how to downsize your wardrobe

There’s a saying out there that less is more right? I’d have to agree. I’m all about living simple & only using the things I need or bring me joy. When we were preparing to move into the van, we had to do so much downsizing & that meant I had to downsize my wardrobe BIG TIME! After living in the van for almost 2 months, I am happy to report that i haven’t ran out of clothes yet!

Here are four questions you should ask yourself when downsizing your wardrobe:

  1. How often do I wear this article of clothing?

  2. Do I love it?

  3. Can I wear it with more than one outfit?

  4. Do I have to keep it?

Pro tip: if you hang your clothes, turn your hanger backwards. after you wear the clothes, flip the hanger around. After a month, if you still have hangers flipped around, consider donating or selling those items!

I also wanted to share how many of each item of clothes I have:

1 pair of jeans

2 pairs of shorts

2 pairs of overalls

1 tank top

4 tees

2 bathing suits

3 pairs of leggings

3 atheletic/athlesuire tops

2 hoodies

2 cardigans

1 blue jean jacket

1 rain jacket

1 winter coat

2 normal bras

4 sports bras

1 bralette

9 pairs of underwear

4 pairs of socks

7 pairs of shoes

2 hats

So there you have it, friend, a sustainable wardrobe. Its also super fun to get creative with how many different outfit combinations you can create with this list! If you end up downsizing your wardrobe, tag me on insta (@ally.lauren.m) so I can see!
